The Making Of: Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis as Muse

Posted on September 25, 2012 at 8:59 am by Rosie Pope / Making Of, Style

Ponte di Roma– [pawn-tee dee raw-mah] – noun 1. weft knitted, interlock based, double jersey structure . Literally “roman bridge” which is in reference to the arrangement of loops that make up the construction.  2. Our favorite fabric.

We chose ponte di roma as our fabric of choice to give our fall collection a chic structured look.  This was no accident; we have had a love affair with ponte for a while now.   Our mood board was sprinkled with images of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and American prep.  After all, she is American royalty, and this coincided with of our fall inspiration.  She always looked effortless, yet her dresses were always structured and elegant.  During the design process someone pointed out that it “looked like she was wearing ponte dresses all the time.”

It made sense; ponte di roma is one of the few fabrics that can give the wearer comfort and structure at the same time.   Not only is ponte a miracle fabric for maternity, it is a miracle fabric for anyone at any time.  It hardly ever wrinkles, which everyone appreciates.  It should be known though, that not all ponte knits are created equal.  Some have nylon, some have poly; there are different stretch and different weights.  We’ve selected one of the best to make your life easier and more chic.

The chain dress is a classic take on the structured shifts of the Jackie O era.  The waist tabs nip the waist in slightly, and the gold chain detailing is timeless.  So let’s all celebrate Jackie’s timeless style in a modern dress that pays homage to her.

Hey there outstanding blog! Does running a blog like this require a massive amount work?
I have absolutely no knowledge of programming
but I had been hoping to start my own blog in the near future.
Anyway, should you have any ideas or tips for new blog owners please share.
I know this is off topic however I just had to ask.
    Many thanks!
