Mommy Maven Kelly Florio Kasouf, Author & Fashion Maven: Secrets of a Fashion Week Diaper Bag
I decided to reach out to some chic New York City moms to see what secret weapons they carry around in their under cover diaper bags to help transition from baby giggles to runway glow in seconds! Today, I am featuring Kelly Florio Kasouf.
Kelly Florio Kasouf, mother of two, and top selling author of the children’s book series, The Super Adventures of Sophie and the City wrote her books in honor of her father’s memory, Steve Florio, who was the President and CEO of the famous publishing house, Conde Nast Publications. After growing up inside this fantastical world full of fashion, design, and above all, characters, Kelly took her memories and created a series full of fantasy and family values.
Secrets of a Fashion Week Diaper Bag from Kelly:
The current status of my diaper bag:
I actually use an oversized toiletry bag that is so easy to clean, inside and out – DVF printed toiletry clutch
Kid’s Stuff:
Diapers – 2013 is going to be the year we go diaperless. Some people have WIFI we want DIFI.
Apple Juice & Raisins – Snacks for the kids in the cab or on the subway post preschool is essential. Keeps them busy and happy before lunch.
Lollipops – If all else fails, I turn to the sugar. I always keep lollipops in my bag to occupy their time and keeps them from wandering from me on the street.
Aquaphor – This is the universal item every person in our family uses. Henry has super dry skin in the winter and we put it on his cheeks and nose before playing outside and Sophie uses it under her nose after the nasty flu.
Ipad – When we need some peace and quiet for a few minutes, I pull out the Ipad for a few minutes. It’s loaded with educational apps and movies if they please. Sophie is currently loving my app I created for my book series (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/sophie-nyc/id477719538?mt=8) which animates the book, The Super Adventures of Sophie and the City, has a coloring book feature, and shows funs sites to see in NYC.
Bows – Sophie can’t stand her hair in her face so we always have an arsenal of bows in every bag we own.
Mommy’s Stuff:
Giant orange comb – For a quick brush and rid myself of child-like tangles I still get.
Kiehl’s Crème de Corps – Post gym item, and use on the babies hands after washing them while we are out.
Kiehl’s Hand Salve – I also use this on the baby’s faces if we are out of Aquaphor but I love this for my hands and elbows during the winter.
Giorgio Armani Face Fabric Second Skin Nude Makeup in #3 – I live by this sheer matte foundation. I sometimes mix it with my moisturizer for a dewy look but this helps me not look like an extra from the Walking Dead during the winter.
Chanel Blush & Bobbi Brown brush – My kids are always around me when I’m getting ready so it’s no surprise Lightening McQueen has taken the place of the Chanel logo on my favorite blush. I kept the sticker as it reminds me of my little monsters when I’m in between meetings and doing touch ups.
Bobbi Brown Mascara Two in One Everything Mascara & Lash Glamour Extreme Lengthening – Another reason I look awake most times is because of this mascara.
Edward Bess for Givenchy Ultra Slick Lipstick – This lipstick is the most sheer pink color that you literally cannot go wrong with. In the back of a cab, I can put this on and not be fearful that I went above and beyond my natural lip line.
Bobby Pins: For when I literally need to pull my hair out of my face and get down to business.
