Amazon Moms: Holiday Memories

Posted on December 4, 2013 at 7:19 am by Rosie Pope / Mommy Maven, Rosie's Reality, Style

I recently announced my collaboration with Amazon, where I’m now a Guest Contributor!  My holiday picks are below, but you can get the full read here.

I always feel an immense amount of pressure to create holiday memories, but I also know I really want them for my family.  I used to dream as a little girl of having a big family with all these fabulous traditions – and everything was monogrammed!  I think the problem is I always bit off more than I can chew, trying to hand-blow glass Christmas ornaments and monogram them with individual pieces of color-coordinated glitter.  Okay, I exaggerate, but you get the picture! The trick is to start off small, tackle just one or two things a year, and build on the ones that seem the most fun.  At the end of the holidays, write down which traditions were your favorite and why, so you remember them for next year.  Before you know it, you’ll have holiday traditions and memories galore.

Here are my favorite items to help make the memories:

Child to Cherish Handprints Tower Of Time Kit

There is something about those tiny hands and feet that will make you melt and will fascinate your little ones as they look back. Make sure to get some hand prints done between all the sugar-cookie baking

Pearhead Baby Hanging Keepsake

Baby foot and hand prints are an instant keepsake and turning them into a holiday ornament means they’ll be sure to come out year after year and not get lost in a drawer (I admit it, my drawers are full of keepsakes I can never seem to find!). They also make the best grandparent gifts.

Pearhead Belly Casting Kit

I love crafts for the holidays as they can really bring families together. If you’re expecting, or someone in your family is, do a belly cast and then paint it all together, creating a keepsake for the nursery. If you’re not feeling your inner Van Gogh you can always write a little message on the cast instead.

C.R. Gibson Slim Bound Journal Album for Photos

Simply sweet and lots of room for journaling, which is a great way to complete the memories in your album.

Wedgwood 2013 Baby’s 1st Christmas Pink Carousel Figurine

Adding timeless yet meaningful decorations to your tree is a great way to create traditions and memories. I love picking out one very special ornament with meaning each year and having the kids be the first to place it on the tree. It makes decorating so special and they love to tell the memories of holidays past when a particular ornament was first placed on the tree. It makes me want to chew on a candy cane just thinking about it

Lucy Darling Shop Monthly Baby Sticker – Gender Neutral – Retro Numbers – Months 1-12

This holiday, start getting into the habit of taking pictures of your baby with these monthly markers. With such little effort it will end up being the keepsake you are so proud of, and nothing makes for a better grandparent gift.

Youngland Baby-Girls Infant Metallic Taffeta Dress

Plaid is definitely in this winter and there is no reason why your little one can’t be a fashionista this holiday. Besides, as a Brit, I love that the plaid gives a nice nod to our royal fever. You never know, Prince George might come for tea one day!

Sweet Kids Girls Sleeveless Flower Girl Dress with Rolled Flower Waistband

Ahhhh, holiday dresses! I got to choose a new dress every December and I’d look forward to it all year. This one would have been at the top of my list. I love it when a parenting choice doesn’t have to be practical!

Nautica Baby-Boys Infant Sweater Woven Jean Set

Sharp and put-together for the holidays but also comfy! Plus, plaid is in style (trust me, I’m British).

Nautica Dress Up Boys 2-7 F13 Birdseye Vest Set

Trust me, there are only a few years in which you get to have that much say over what your wee ones wear. While you can, get them in something heart-melting this holiday. I’m loving this contemporary take on a classic English style. Loving James Bond or Prince George? Your little one has it covered in this suit!
