Amazon Moms: Registry Must-Haves

Posted on December 19, 2013 at 12:24 pm by AlisonM / Mommy Maven, Rosie's Reality, Style

I recently announced my collaboration with Amazon, where I’m now a Guest Contributor!  My tips for how to build the perfect baby registry, but you can get the full read here.

Registering is overwhelming for everyone.  We are terrified that if we don’t choose the right gear, this might somehow reflect what type of parent we are going to be or impact future happiness of our children!  Believe me, I’ve been there, tears flowing down my cheeks, flabbergasted that I was unable to fold the latest stroller.  Let me reassure you that the fact that you are even worrying says that you are going to be a great parent and choosing between a travel swing and a stationary one will not define you as a parent (and if you don’t know the difference, don’t worry about that either!).  Take a deep breath, and we’ll figure this out together and one day, not too far from now, it will all seem very funny.

Here are the products that should be on every baby registry:

Motorola MBP33 Wireless Video Baby Monitor

Peace of mind while your baby is sleeping is essential so you can get some sleep or sit back and relax for the first time all day! This video monitor is easy to use and can adapt to fit many rooms—place it on a dresser, hang it from up high, and more. It also has a pretty wide angle so you can follow your little wriggler around the crib without repositioning the device and risking waking your baby.

Dr. Brown’s Double Electric Breast Pump

Pumping doesn’t have to be torture. If you do it in the right environment it can offer a little much-needed downtime. Creating a pumping play list can help too!

Britax B-Agile and B-Safe Travel System

It’s certainly hard to find a stroller that will fit all your needs but this one comes pretty close. This stroller has you covered, from the moment you bring your baby home from the hospital and want the safe, snug fit of the car seat, to later months when your baby is ready to sit up in a stroller and you’re ready to get active again. An added bonus: most guys seem to love the steering of the 3-wheel stroller!

Philips AVENT BPA Free Natural Polypropylene Bottles

Bottles with nipples in the shape of a breast make the breast-to-bottle transition easier. Make sure to start with slow-flow nipples, and register for a few 4-ounce bottles because your baby won’t be drinking 8 ounces at a time for a while and you want to reduce the amount of air in the bottle. Plus, the more bottles you have the fewer times a day you’ll be sterilizing!

Fisher-Price Cradle n Swing, My Little Lamb

If you have the space this is a wonderful swing for your baby to be amused. Just make sure you don’t start using it as a nighttime crib option as it will be hard to have your baby transition out of it. Use it while you cook, wash those bottles, take a breather, or jump into the shower and attempt to get out of your sweats!

Skip Hop Treetop Friends Decor Pillow

Trust me, I know the crib is a place you want to decorate, but for safety you really should only have a firm mattress and a fitted sheet, plus a bed skirt if you want. To add pops of color and for a more luxurious feel add accent pillows to the crib–just remove them before your baby goes in. They are far easier to take in and out than bumpers. Skip Hop has some fun modern designs that will bring any crib to life.

American Baby Company 100% Cotton Tailored Bed Skirt with Pleat, Blue

Fitted crib sheets are a must so they don’t slip off the mattress. Your baby will be spending a lot of time on them with lots of skin contact. Choose a subtle print that doesn’t make it too difficult for Junior to fall asleep … Hello, Chevron!

Fisher-Price Luv U Zoo Jumperoo

Having a safe, stimulating place to put your baby as he or she develops those leg muscles for walking is so important. I love this one because it has entertaining toys hanging from above as well as on the seat. Change up the toys by attaching other favorites and teething toys.

Bumbleride 2013 Indie Stroller

There really isn’t one stroller that fits all, but if you know you plan to be active the Bumblerise Indie is amazing. Plus having a jogger might be the motivation you need.
