Spring Baby Showers

Baby showers are one of my favorite things to plan anytime of the year but there is something about spring that brings new inspiration.
If you are thinking about your own shower or throwing one for a loved one this spring, let me give you some tips, tricks and what’s trending so that throwing your perfect baby shower is as fun as it should be.
I like to start with color schemes as I begin planning showers. It’s a good place to begin so that you can streamline your thoughts as it relates to everything from food to décor. Picking unusual color schemes that are still very sweet can be a lot of fun and provide a fresh modern look to the shower. This spring, blues for girls and mint or orange for boys are all the rage, mixed with white creates the perfect crisp spring into summer celebration.
Next, make your life easier by making the food part of the decoration. You don’t have to have gone to culinary school to create something and it will make you look really savvy! For example, I love donut-hole towers that you can adorn with fresh flowers from the garden. Then you can also provide pretty little bags for the guests to take some home to nibble on later in the day as tasty and easy favors.
While on the flower theme I love the spring trend of floral letters. They are time intensive to make, but very do-able (just don’t choose a word that is too long). Go for something cute and sweet like B-A-B-Y, M-O-M, or even the baby’s monogram if the mother-to-be will let you know what it is.
Thinking about a gift registry is always difficult when faced with the sea of products out there and not completely knowing what you’ll need. Also, if this is not your first baby it’s always tricky to think about asking for more gifts even when you know you need them. The idea of registering for cord blood banking is something I have discussed before and it’s a great way to allow friends and family to contribute to something truly unique.
The most important thing of all to remember when planning a shower this spring is that a new baby is coming, so don’t let any relatives or friends rain on your shower parade! Have fun, and have it in the style that fits you and your future baby best. Happy April Showers!
