The One Beauty Product to Buy Before Giving Birth
The One Beauty Product to Buy Before Giving Birth
Having had four babes of my own, I know first hand how hard it is to keep it together during those first couple weeks with baby. You’ve got spit up on your shirt, you haven’t slept more than a couple hours (maybe!) since before giving birth, and even if you had the luxury of spare time—which you don’t, of course—you’re too exhausted and likely in too much pain still if you had a C-section to even consider washing your hair.
You could go ahead and plan on embracing the grunge look (big flannel shirts are equally unflattering on everyone, so nobody will be judging your post-baby body!) or you could do as I do and stock up on your favorite dry shampoo before heading into the delivery room. A few spritzes at the roots of your hair, and you’ll be looking amazing and feeling (almost!) totally fresh. No shower required.
Sure, you could have your partner or a friend bring you some from the store, but the chances of them knowing what kind you like are slim (there are so many brands now, and not all work equally well on everyone!). Plus, if you haven’t used dry shampoo before, you might not even know which kind works best for you! My suggestion is to ask friends for recommendations, and then buy the small travel sizes if they’re available to test out in the months before you give birth.
Heck, even pack a bottle in your hospital bag so you can fix yourself up a little before those first pictures are taken if you want. It’ll be our little secret!
