For a Smart Baby, Try This Easy Trick

The dissatisfied boy reading the book

Of course every mom-to-be’s number one priority is to make sure her baby will be healthy and safe, but beyond that, most of us also hope our little one will have the smarts to carry her far in life—to a great university, into a fantastic career, and who knows—maybe into the White House!

There are all kinds of theories on how to boost your baby’s brain after she’s born, but a recent study published in The Lancet showed something that pregnant women can do to boost their child’s IQ before they’re even born . . . and it’s insanely easy.

Apparently, eating more foods rich in iodine can actually increase your child’s brain function and likely help her score higher on reading when she eventually enters school. So, how do you get the stuff? In all honesty, it’s simple as pie. Well, not actual pie, but still, iodine is found in some pretty delicious stuff.

For a hefty dose of iodine, include salmon, shrimp, yogurt, eggs, and cow’s milk in your diet. If you’re vegan and don’t eat animal products, sea weed is another excellent source. And if you’re tempted to simply pop a supplement, those exist, but you should always discuss taking anything new with your doctor before doing so.

Do you have any tips on helping your baby to be a great thinker? Share them in the comments!
