2017 Baby Shower Trends
A baby shower doesn’t have to be a luxurious event, but it is a very special occasion – one in which friends and family come together to celebrate a precious time of growth and love for the expecting parents. I want to share some unique ideas that will make your 2017 baby shower both a beautiful and memorable event.
Cute and delicate stuffed animals, such as teddy bears, sheep, and owls or birds, will continue to be a favorite theme among the mamas and dadas-to-be. The safari theme is stunning and fitting for both baby boys’ and girls’ showers. For example, a rustic green safari can be used for boys and an elegant or glamorous safari with pastel colors and sparkles may be used for a luxurious baby girl shower. Those not enthused by the animal themes may prefer classic children’s tales or lullabies like, “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”, Winnie the Pooh, Tinker Bell, and “You Are My Sunshine.”
I recommend using nature and the environment as inspiration when designing your special event. The lovely flowers blooming, light colors, and lawn/garden ornaments in the springtime will supplement an already striking garden theme. In the summertime, you may choose to have a picturesque, nautical-themed baby shower overlooking the ocean or the beach. The theme “Little Pumpkin” will correspond beautifully with an abundance of pumpkins, dried flowers, and hay in the fall. For a winter wonderland theme, the dried trees and sparkling snow all around you will adorn your shower and will certainly leave a lasting impression on your guests.
Another option that is sure to come back in 2017 is the “stroller” theme. The stroller is a familiar baby symbol wherever we go. Although it has been used many times in the past, there are numerous ways to innovate it. For instance, I have used the stroller as a centerpiece, as a dessert stand, and as a party favor filled with macarons.
Perhaps the theme that deserves the crown for cutest and most versatile baby showers is the prince or princess theme. A crown decoration will grant an air of elegance and poise even to the most simple and effortless baby showers. Moreover, crowns can be incorporated into the shower in small details like napkin holders or cupcake toppers, or more noticeably on backdrops or tables. There is no better way for the mama and dada-to-be to tell their guests that they are expecting a prince/princess!
As you now know, choosing a baby shower theme is no easy task. Fortunately, this is because there are just too many options. When choosing a theme, the mama and dada-to-be and can draw inspiration from their favorite hobbies, colors, seasons, animals, or even fond memories.
Upon completion of that difficult task, creativity kicks in as you incorporate the chosen theme into various aspects of the decoration. The cake table is at the heart of the decoration. It should be impeccable and awe-inspiring to the guests and mama and dada-to-be. Custom-made desserts can serve the dual purpose of accentuating the table and satisfying the guests’ sweet tooth. Some of these sweets include cupcakes, cake pops, cookies and macarons. If the child’s name has already been chosen, it can also be used in the decoration, making it that much more personalized.
Lastly, I guarantee that the baby showers of 2017 will provide guests with opportunities to participate during the event. Thematic party props and photo booths are a fun and great way to encourage guests to take pictures. A table decorated with a variety of baby shower games is also a plus, so all guests can interact with one another.
